8 nabbed while in drug session

CEBU, Philippines - At least eight suspected drug users were arrested in separate police operations in Talisay City and Minglanilla.

Members of the Talisay City Police Station were conducting "Oplan Tokhang" in Sitio Tunga, Barangay Tanke at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday when they were alerted by a concerned citizen of an ongoing drug session in the area.

The police operatives led by Superintendent Aileen Recla immediately verified the information and found Noel Nuñez, 32, resident of the barangay, and Doroteo Radores, 22, of Calojo-an Minglanilla, in the act of sniffing shabu. The two were immediately arrested.

The police also arrested Leonarda Cabanes, 56, for maintaining a drug den.

Meanwhile, operatives of Minglanilla Police Station also arrested five suspected drug users in Sitio Sangi, Barangay Calajo-an yesterday dawn.

The police were tipped off about an ongoing drug session in the area, prompting them to immediately respond.

The suspects were identified as Joel Isidro, 28, resident of Ihawan Calajo-an, Minglanilla; Vincent Paul Gimenez, 25, resident of Tubod, Minglanilla; Kenneth Lomera, 26, resident of Ilang-ilang St., San Isidro, Talisay City; Alfredo Mondello, 28, of Bulacao Pardo; and Juneil Secretaria, 29, of Cuanos Minglanilla.

The police recovered two small sachets of suspected shabu and several drug paraphernalia.

All arrested drug suspects are now detained at the police station pending the filing of formal complaints before the prosecutor's office. (FREEMAN)
