Bright New Year expected
CEBU, Philippines - A sunny and fair weather is expected to greet New Year’s Day this Friday, the local state weather bureau said yesterday.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration-Mactan Chief Meteorologist Al Quiblat said a relatively good weather is seen to prevail within the next four days.
He said there is no expected low pressure area, tropical cyclone, or other weather disturbances to beset the country at least until Friday.
“There is no weather disturbance to affect the country so far,” he said.
He, however, said some parts of Cebu will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
He said, though, that the chance of isolated rain showers is only 20 percent since there is a ridge of high-pressure area (HPA) that could bring clear skies and warm temperature.
“Cloudy and partly cloudy ang atong masinati. Apan kun mouwan man galing dili kusog ug dili dugay,” Quiblat said.
Based on PAGASA’s 24-hour weather forecast, light to moderate winds blowing from the east to the northeast with slight to moderate seas will be experienced in the archipelago.
PAGASA said the northeast monsoon would continue to affect most of northern Luzon.
PAGASA has not also issued any gale warning, with Quiblat saying fisherfolks can venture safely into the seas. (FREEMAN)
