Police seize P1.5M drugs in Cordova

CEBU, Philippines - A suspected drug pusher yielded at least P1.5 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion, Cordova past midnight yesterday.

Giovanne Toring, 38, of Barangay Babag II, Lapu-Lapu City was arrested by the operatives of Provincial Intelligence Branch after he sold a pack of shabu worth P5,000 to an undercover policeman.

The operation stemmed from the information relayed to them by the Regional Anti-Illegal Special Operations Task Group-7.

PIB chief Superintendent Rodolfo Albotra said the information came from a concerned citizen who texted RAIDSOTG-7 of the illegal activities of Toring. Acting on the information, PIB operatives immediately conducted surveillance operation and confirmed it.

Albotra said a team was immediately organized to conduct the buy-bust operation resulting in Toring’s arrest. The police recovered 21 medium packs of shabu in the suspect’s car with an estimated value of P1.5 million.

The police also seized Toring’s car as part of the evidence. Albotra considered him as level two drug pusher who is capable of disposing of at least 250 grams of shabu every week.

Albotra was again congratulated by Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento. According to Alborta, Sarmiento called him up again yesterday morning to congratulate his team on the latest accomplishment.

He was also congratulated earlier because of the arrest of 24 drug personalities in Barangay Tanke, Talisay City wherein P1.2 million worth of drugs was also confiscated. — (FREEMAN)
