Road accidents mar weekend

CEBU, Philippines - Six people who were in the way to Simala, Sibonga were injured after the multicab they were riding figured an accident with a passenger bus in Bolinawan, Carcar City yesterday afternoon.

Ana Mae Molina, 34, the driver of the multicab, had to be brought to a hospital in Cebu City to have her injuries treated.

Joselito Molina, 56; Christopher Bryan Molina; Julius Molina, six; David Molina, five; Jessie Molina, two; were brought to the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City but were discharged later. They suffered from minor injuries.

SPO1 Eduardo Bagul of the Carcar Police said the multicab was heading to Simala from Lapu-Lapu City.

However, the vehicle’s left front wheel reportedly burst when they reached Bolinawan in Carcar. Molina lost control of the steering wheel and the vehicle went the opposite lane, hitting the bus driven by Richard Abuhab, 40.

In a separate incident last Friday night in Asturias town, 55-year-old Clarus Trazo met his untimely death when he was hit by a motorcycle when he crossed the road.

Investigation revealed that Rodrigo Torion, 38, was driving from Balamban town for Asturias when he hit Trazo who crossed the street in Barangay Owak.

Torion was reportedly driving fast that both he and Trazo fell to the ground from the impact.

Perhaps Torion was lucky that the ambulance of Bogo City passed by the area and brought him and Trazo to the Balamban District Hospital. Trazo, however, succumbed to his injuries and did not make it alive.

Torion had to be brought to a hospital in Cebu City for further treatment.

In another accident, a man also died when the motorcycle he was driving slammed into a concrete electric post in Barangay Tapon, Dumanjug town yesterday morning.

Marjon Domin, 22, was reportedly driving his Honda Wave towards Barangay Tapon when he lost control of the motorcycle and slammed into the post. He died on the spot. – Bryner L. Diaz/JMO (FREEMAN)
