Wife raps cop for abuses

CEBU, Philippines - A policeman is facing criminal complaint for violation of the Anti-Violence against Women and Children Act before the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office after he was accused of physical abuse by his wife.

SPO1 Dindo Tuliao, assigned at Police regional Office-7 headquarters, had been reportedly subjecting his wife and child to physical and verbal abuse.

His wife, Geraldine, claimed that since their marriage on May 17, 2003 she had been “sexually abused, harassed and subject of physical harm.”

Geraldine recalled an incident sometime in 2010 wherein her husband hit her in the head while inside a fast food chain outlet. Sometime in May 2014, Geraldine said her husband also hit their son with a belt.

“Complaining about the incident my son being a minor and shocked about the incident I was not able to hold my tempter, I shouted at him for he was using a belt,” the affidavit read.

She was also hit by her husband during the incident where she almost fell unconscious. Because of the constant physical abuse she allegedly received from her husband, she sought the intervention of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Mandaue City.

They were called for family counseling but her husband did not show up. Geraldine said she was told that her husband went to see DSWD personnel ahead of her and warned them not to intervene on a family problem.

Geraldine’s claim was also supported by their househelp. —FPL (FREEMAN)
