TripAdvisor: Cebu among Asia’s best destinations
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu has been ranked as the 25th best destination in Asia by TripAdvisor.
Cebu is the only destination in the Philippines included in the discriminating latest travelers’ choice awards as top favorite vacation haven in the region.
In the list, however, Cebu was described as an Island in the Visayas. It did not mention that Cebu is an island province in the Philippines.
Department of Tourism (DOT-7) regional director Shalimar H. Tamano said although the recognition is elating, it does come as a surprise but “we deserved our ranking.”
In fact, he added Cebu can easily move up notches higher from the 25th because of “our diverse offerings and programs being lined up to further boost our destination.”
Moreover, the recognition reflects Cebu prominence in the world’s traveling market, added Tamano.
Cebu joins Asia’s best destinations like Bali, Indonesia (1); Phuket, Thailand (2); Siem Reap, Cambodia (3); Hanoi, Vietnam (4); Tokyo, Japan (5); Kathmandu, Nepal (6); Jaipur India (7); Hong Kong, China (8); Seoul, South Korea (9); Goa, India (10); Bangkok, Thailand (11); Hoi An, Vietnam (12); Kyoto, Japan (13); Chiang Mai, Thailand (14); New Delhi, India (15); Beijing, China (16); Da Nang, Vietnam (17); Krabi Town, Thailand (18); Singapore, Singapore (19); Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (20); Shanghai, China (21); Taipei, Taiwan (22); Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (23); Osaka, and Japan (24).
