The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) yesterday lifted the shellfish ban it imposed on Irong-Irong Bay in Catbalogan City and Canba-tutay Bay in nearby Tarangnan town, both in Samar, after the waters in these areas tested negative for algae that produce the red tide toxin.

In an advisory, the task force said that harvesting and selling of shellfish from Milagros waters in Masbate; Juag Lagoon in Matnog, Sorsogon; San Pedro Bay in Marabut, Western Samar; Balite Bay in Davao Oriental; and Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur are still prohibited.

Nakipag-ugnayan na ang BFAR sa mga local executives ng nabanggit na lalawigan upang hindi na makarating pa sa ibang lugar ang mga shellfish products.
