Fully-vaccinated elderly must still wear face masks and shields, observe physical distance with others, and avoid crowded places, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a briefing Friday.

In a statement, the WHO and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Philippines said the Department of Health officially concluded the polio outbreak response on June 3 “as the virus has not been detected in a child or in the environment in the past 16 months.”

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases has decided to allow more establishments in Metro Manila and nearby areas to reopen, Malacañang announced Friday. 

The survey, conducted from April 28 to May 2, found that 75% of respondents still wear face masks, 67% wash their hands several times a day, 58% keep physical distance from other people outside their homes, and 53% use face shields.
