                    [Summary] => The PNOC-Energy Development Corp. (EDC), the geothermal development arm of state-owned Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC),  has successfully drilled a steam well in Southern Leyte, EDC chairman and president Sergio Apostol said. 


Apostol said the first well drilled in San Juan town will be able to produce five megawatts (MW) of power.

The new well forms part of the overall plan to put up a 60-MW geothermal plant in Southern Leyte.

PNOC-EDC president Sergio Apostol said the company’s board, in a meeting last Monday gave the go signal for an IPO that is estimated to raise some P10-billion proceeds.

"Rough estimates show that our assets amount to P103 billion, 10 percent of this will be P10 billion," Apostol said, adding that by next week, the company will start selecting a financial advisor that will handle the IPO.
