Leading wireless services provider Smart Communications has forged a partnership with MetroPass Systems (MetroPass) to jointly develop and implement an electronic payment system for Metrostar Express (MRT-3) commuters through an MRT Smart Money PayPass card.
Under the terms of the partnership, MRT commuters will be able to use the Smart Money PayPass card to electronically pay for their daily transportation costs, eliminating the need to queue in lines to purchase tickets.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Bayani Fernando said yesterday the development of two hubs at the northern and southern points of EDSA would be underway at the start of the new year.
The hubs intend to replace existing provincial bus terminals scattered along the major thoroughfare. One would be situated at the North Avenue depot of the Metrostar Express or MRT-3 in Quezon City and the other under the Magallanes Interchange in Makati City.

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon "Dinky" Juliano-Soliman said senior citizens who can present a senior citizen’s ID issued by their respective local government units (LGUs) can avail of the free rides.

[Summary] => Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Bayani Fernando has ordered the removal of all street billboards and signages which obstruct the flow of traffic.
Fernando observed that there are too many of these billboards in Metro Manila, most of which only go beyond the limits of their objectives.
"These signs and billboards should not make the roadways unsafe for the motorists and pedestrians," Fernando said.
The removal of the signs started early this week during Fernando’s routine inspection of roads in Metro Manila.

[Summary] => The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reported yesterday that average vehicle speed on the roads of Metro Manila has increased by more than two kilometers per hour from 1998 to year 2000.
MMDA chairman Jejomar Binay noted that motor vehicles traverse the major roads, particularly EDSA, at an average speed of 25.84 kilometers per hour based on data from last year.
The average speed has improved from 14.5 kilometers an hour in 1999 and 12 kilometers per hour in 1998.
