A ‘loveless’ loveteam that clicks – and how!
The one-year suspension of De La Salle University from competitions of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines due to ineligibility of two members of the senior basketball team in the 2002 through 2005 seasons should have put the matter to rest, right? It will be recalled that early this month, a somewhat abbreviated 2-page report submitted by University officials was found woefully incomplete by the board.

A reliable source close to the Benitez family said the hefty 6-foot-5 center plans to sort out his academic records at Jose Rizal University and hopefully play out his remaining two years of collegiate basketball in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) league.

It’s been more than a week since La Salle admitted to the public that it has fielded an ineligible player in the UAAP. The player in question has been with the team for two years and was part of the champion team in 2004. As a result, La Salle has volunteered to return the trophy, which might end up in the hands of the FEU Tamaraws, the losing finalists that year.

"I’ll propose that we discuss the issue," said Calvo.
