[Title] => Sen. Loi breaks her silence
[Summary] => Even while her husband, former President Joseph Estrada was still in office, former First Lady and now Opposition Senator Dr. Luisa "Loi" Ejercito has been known for her quiet and self-effacing ways. If ever she speaks up in public, it is always something about her pet charity projects. One of these projects include the free dialysis treatment for indigent patients that she put up at the Malacañang Clinic.

Pro-Arroyo solons led by Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman cited that the impeachment cases were actually "dead on arrival" and therefore, they just administered the formal last rites to put these issues against the President to rest.

[Summary] => Effective tomorrow, the Malacañang Clinic in San Rafael St., just across the Palace, will be closed down. This I learned yesterday from my son, who studies in the nearby San Beda College, when I advised him to go to the Malacañang Clinic after he told me he was running a fever. Having covered the Palace for close to two decades, I have availed of the free medical, dental and other health services being provided to the general public by the Malacañang Clinic. Call the doctor very quick. Doctor, doctor, shall I die? No, my darling, do not cry."

This is one of the many popular nursery rhymes that I used to amuse myself with when I was still of pre-school age. I sang this to ease my fear upon sight of doctors whom I associated with painful injections. Now older and much wiser, the same nursery rhyme about doctors has evolved into a new meaning, especially for us Filipinos.
