Our gospel reading this Sunday comes from Luke 3: 10-18, which is actually a continuation of last Sunday’s gospel reading.

Today is supposedly the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Patroness of the Philippines. But I learned that since today is the Second Sunday of Advent, this event takes precedence over the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, which has been moved tomorrow Dec. 9th. However since the Feast of the Immaculate Conception is a Holiday of Obligation, if you went to Mass today, you are no longer required to hear Mass tomorrow.
