MMDA Chairman Benjamin Abalos, Sr. disclosed that their efforts to clean up the center island along EDSA of advertisements have been stopped because of a preliminary injunction issued by a Regional Trial Court judge in Pasig City.


The MMDA started removing the signs and posters from the structure of the MRT-3 early last year because of a number of legal issues.

The challenge came from MMDA General Manager Jaime Paz in defense of Superintendent Manuel Quevedo who has been the subject of an alleged smear campaign in the CAMANAVA area.


Quevedo was summoned to the MMDA office in Orense, Makati City the other day after reports were published about the supposed extortion he was perpetrating in the ranks of the NDTEO.

MMDA General Manager Jaime Paz said that secret marshals clad in civilian clothes have been deployed along EDSA to apprehend the vandals. He was infuriated by the messages painted on the columns of the Metro Rail Transit-3 line along EDSA, particularly near the Tuason-Cubao area.

A couple of months ago, Abalos had ordered the removal of the advertisements because of the potential risks to motorists.
