The Sandiganbayan denied yesterday the request of former President Joseph Estrada to visit his ailing mother again in her house in San Juan, following reports that he used the opportunity to meet opposition leaders. 


Justices of the graft court of the Special Division observed that Estrada’s Nov. 6 visit to the house of his 102-year-old mother Doña Mary Ejercito on Kennedy St. at the posh North Greenhills subdivision was more of a political gathering than a concerned son’s visit to his sick mother.

Justices Teresita Leonardo-de Castro, Francisco Villaruz and Rodolfo Ponferrada of the anti-graft court’s special division trying Estrada for the capital offense of plunder said there was no valid reason to extend the furlough.
