Former Batangas Gov. Jose Antonio Leviste was transferred from the Makati City Jail to the Makati Medical Center. The reason why he was transferred from a jail to a hospital is because he was said to be suffering from low blood pressure. Leviste, if you recall, was detained in jail after he admitted that he had fatally shot his long-time aide, Rafael de las Alas. He said he did so in self defense.

Former Batangas Gov. Jose Antonio Leviste is still confined at the Makati Medical Center yesterday after jail guards at the Makati City Jail brought the detained murder suspect to the hospital last Friday after he suffered dizziness.


Leviste, who is facing charges for the murder of his long-time assistant Rafael de las Alas is still under observation at the hospital after the detainee complained of dizziness, poor eyesight and his blood pressure went down to 90 over 60.

Former Batangas Gov. Jose Antonio Leviste, who is being detained without bail for murder,  was rushed to a hospital in Makati City last night due to low blood pressure.


In a telephone interview, Leviste’s lawyer Henry Capela said Leviste was taken to the Makati Medical Center at around 6 p.m. yesterday, but could not give further details about the condition of the ex-governor.


"All I can say is that he is still there" Capela said.
