Two years ago, I had the opportunity of celebrating Holy Week on the island of Camotes. As someone from a country where Christians are but a minority, it was surprising for me to witness how the liturgy of the Holy Week moved from the confines of the parish into the roads, the villages, the public square.

In her book Who Calls Me Beautiful? Regina Franklin observes that in 1951 Miss Sweden was 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighed 151 pounds. But Miss Sweden of 1983 was 2 inches taller and 45 pounds lighter. What qualifies as beauty for one generation does not seem to apply to the next.

Capacio, a reliable role player in the 80s, said he didn’t get the job by choice but now that he’s assumed the position, he promised to do his utmost best to best serve the paramount interests of the league.
