Jerrysal Mangaoang, MGB director for Cagayan Valley, said yesterday that these towns, most of which are in Cagayan and Isabela, will be subjected to further geological assessment after they were identified as prone to natural disasters.

                    [Summary] => BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will start the recount of the ballots cast during the May 10 elections to determine the real winner in the race for the gubernatorial post here.


In its Memorandum Order dated July 14, the poll body’s First Division ordered the start of the revisions and recounting of the ballots today to determine who between  former vice governor Luisa Cuaresma (LDP-Independent) and former board member Leonardo Perez Jr. (NPC-KNP) will be proclaimed as the duly elected governor.

                    [Summary] => BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — Ballot boxes from seven of the 15 towns here, which are the subject of protests of two leading gubernatorial candidates, were ordered  transfered to the  Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Manila for recount.


Lawyer Abraham Asuncion, provincial election supervisor, said  the  ballot boxes would be transported on Tuesday next week after an inventory is made.


Five police escorts were instructed to escort the ballot boxes in question.
