"Robbery complaints, particularly cellular phone snatchings, have been mounting these past few weeks. So the police must go after these criminals," Atienza said.

                    [Summary] => Metro police chief Deputy Director General Reynaldo Velasco said yesterday they have intensified operations in anticipation of the increase in the cases in criminality in view of the approaching Christmas season.


In a radio interview, Velasco said he has already ordered all district directors in the metropolis to heighten their campaign against various crimes, particularly in populated areas such as malls.

Senate Majority Leader Loren Legarda asked Western Police District (WPD) Director Senior Superintendent Pedro Bulaong to investigate allegations that several KTV bars in Manila are being used as fronts for prostitution. Legarda said she has received reports that the bars also employ minors as guest relation officers (GROs).
