[Title] => Security stepped up vs reported Sayyaf threat
[Summary] => Security has been stepped up in the country amid fresh reports that a terrorist cell from the militant Abu Sayyaf could be plotting bombings, officials said yesterday.

Detained Abu Sayyaf militants and Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) suspects have told interrogators about the plot, although the claim is being considered "raw information" that has to be verified first, Armed forces spokesman Lt. Col. Daniel Lucero said.

"But we don’t have to disregard such information. We don’t like surprises and that is why we are checking on this," Lucero said.
