Darius Sinto, 34, of Isla Puting Bato, was shot in the face by a still unidentified gunman along the busy Recto Avenue in Sta. Cruz. The suspect escaped on foot with his firearm.

Investigation by SPO2 Danilo Vidad of the Western Police District showed that the victim had an altercation with another pedicab driver the previous day but he could not say if the incident has something to do with the killing.

Fire Officer Guillermo Fermalino of the Manila Arson Investigation Office said no one was killed or hurt in the fire, which razed 150 houses along Pindalo street in Tondo.

"We heard reports that four persons, including a girl, perished in the fire, but our investigation showed no evidence of such claims," Fermalino said.
