The National Telecommunications Commission had ordered two Cebuano blocktimers to restrain from airing their radio program or any other program that they might anchor in the radio station.


It also stopped radio station DyDD from using its facilities to air the radio program Engkwentro of the two blocktimers, Rey Cortes and Lito "Bingbong" Solon.


Each of the two were ordered to pay P1,000 to Elberto Emphasis, who filed at the NTC last October 4 a complaint against them for malicious and libelous utterances against him through their radio program.

Radio block timer Reynante "Rey" Cortes has been reprimanded and slapped with a P1, 000 fine by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas-Cebu Chapter after being found guilty of name-calling and personal insults against Philippine Reclamation Authority Director Elberto Emphasis using his radio program in dyLA.


The KBP Cebu board of directors en banc yesterday affirmed and approved the result of the investigation conducted by its standard authority headed by Marlon Baula.


Under the Radio Code, name-calling and personal insult are not allowed in broadcasting.

The two radio blocktimers who were earlier caught in an entrapment operation for alleged extortion are facing more problems after the government official whom they accused of being a swindler yesterday filed a P1 million libel suit against them.


Philippine Reclamation Authority director Elberto Emphasis filed the complaint before the Cebu City Prosecutor's Office against Reynante Cortes and Lito "Bingbong" Solon based on their recorded commentaries aired over Bantay Radyo last September 14.


Emphasis said the two accused him of being a swindler in their commentaries.
