A UAAP coach yesterday said that Mark Cardona, now a Talk n Text rookie, tried out for his varsity team in 2000 and although he had the tools to easily make it, he failed to join the squad because he reportedly flunked the Philippine Educational Placement Test Certificate of Rating (PEPTCR).

After taking in Cardona for two weeks in 2000, National University coach Manny Dandan said he was forced to let go of the former La Salle standout for failing the PEPTCR, a document that can be used as admission to college in the absence of a high school diploma.
