Three top-rated Filipino jai-alai players are set to compete in the 15th World Pelota Championship billed as the "Campeonato Mundial de Pelota Vasca" slated Sept. 13-26 in Acapulco, Mexico.


Charlie Medrano leads the Filipino contingent together with Carlo Buenavente and Alex Singca, president of the Federacion Vasca Pelota de Filipinas which is promoting jai-alai as an amateur sport here.


"We have better chances this time since two of our players boast of international experience," said Singca in Filipino, referring to Medrano and Buenavente.
