Napantayan na ng athletics squad ang naging performance nila noong 23rd Vietnam SEA Games na walong golds ngunit tulad noong 2003, ang Thailand pa rin ang overall champion na may 11-14-18 gold-silver-bronze na produksiyon.

                    [Summary] => Reigning SEA Games 10,000 meters champion Eduardo Buenavista stamped his class anew but it was steeplechase specialist Rene Herrera who stole the thunder by ruling the 1500-m in the on-going Thai National Open athletics championships in Bangkok Tuesday.


A confident Buenavista breasted the tape at a slow 30:44.0 in his favorite event to thwart the bid of local boy Boonthung Srisung (31:17.20) and Taipei’s Wen Chien Wu (31:17.56). Buenavista established the SEAG record of 29:19.62 in Hanoi last December.
