                    [Summary] => COTABATO CITY — Kidnappers of a wealthy Chinese trader freed him without ransom here last Saturday night after a former mayor threatened to kill two of their captured comrades, police said.


Grocery store owner Michael Ang, 28, was released less than 24 hours after kidnapped student Al Vincent Uy, 14, was rescued in nearby Sultan Kudarat town. 


The kidnappers’ emissaries brought Ang to the residence here of Datu Tucao Mastura, former mayor of Sultan Kudarat who intervened for the victim’s release.

The victim, Al Vincent Uy, who was snatched Tuesday near the Notre Dame High School in Midsayap town, was freed by his captors after a brief firefight with pursuing lawmen led by Datu Tucao Mastura, former mayor of Sultan Kudarat who is popular for his "eye-for-an-eye, tooth-for-a-tooth" policy against criminals.
