[Title] => Mayor denies "lavish budget" for town hall
[Summary] => Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco denied reports yesterday that the local government allotted an "excessive and lavish budget" for the construction of the new municipal building.
Tiangco reacted to allegations made by ex-Mayor Felipe del Rosario that the budget for the new municipal hall was too big for "one of the poorest towns in Metro Manila."
In a telephone interview, Tiangco pointed out that the budget is "only" P83,470,496.40, and not P130 million, which Del Rosario had claimed.

hree months after the incident, the Department of Justice has started its preliminary investigation into the shooting that erupted at the Senate complex, which supposedly facilitated the escape of Sen. As the Senate impeachment court continues its long drawn-out proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte, the daily spectacle of line-item audits and heated legal sparring has dimmed a simpler, darker reality. The trial of the second highest official in the land is not merely an inquiry into liquidations and operational receipts; it is the ultimate stress test for the country’s vulnerable democratic institutions.
