"Pinaghandaan ko talaga ito dahil gusto kong patunayan na kaya ko pa," said the 48-year-old Antoque of the Philippine Army who became the Milo Marathon national champion in 1992. "Nag-seventh ako sa national (finals) last year, ngayon pipilitin kong makakuha ng mas mataas na pwesto."

                    [Summary] => OLONGAPO City — Mamerto Corpuz outpaced veteran runner Rey Antoque yesterday to win the 20-kilometer regional elimination leg of the 27th National Milo Marathon here.


In bagging his first leg championship, Corpuz was timed at one hour, eight minutes and 12 seconds. Antoque, a winner of nine legs and one national title here, was clocked at one hour, nine minutes and 11 seconds.


"Malakas talaga itong batang ito. Sinubukan ko siyang habulin sa may hulihan pero kinapos ako," said the 47-year-old Antoque of his fellow Armyman.
