The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has put on hold the release of seven oil shipments made by two importers earlier implicated in alleged technical smuggling of imports through undervaluation.


Customs Commissioner Napoleon Morales said he has ordered officials of Limay subport in Bataan not to release the new oil shipments of Andan Enterprises Inc. and Mawab Resources Inc. that arrived earlier this week pending an investigation of the smuggling charges against the two firms.

Bureau of Customs Commissioner Napoleon Morales has ordered the temporary relief of six BOC personnel supposedly involved in the technical smuggling of oil imports by two importers by undervaluing the shipments.


In an interview, Morales said the six Customs officers who handled the release of shipments of Andan Enterprises Inc. and Mawab Resources Inc. last month at the Port of Manila will be preventively suspended, though he withheld their names pending further investigation.

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has uncovered the apparent technical smuggling of gas oil imports by two importers allegedly engaged in the undervaluation of their shipments.


Customs Deputy Commissioner Reynaldo Umali said they are set to file charges of violation of Tariff and the Customs Code of the Philippines against Andan Enterprises Inc. and Mawab Resources Inc. after the BOC intelligence and investigation service found that the two importers did not pay P37 million in duties and taxes.
