The Supreme Court (SC) upheld with finality yesterday its June 26 ruling dismissing a Baguio City regional trial court (RTC) judge from the service for immorality.


The tribunal, meanwhile, slapped four other Baguio City judges with fines ranging from P2,000 to P30,000 for gambling inside their chambers and for corruption.

                    [Summary] => BAGUIO CITY — A Regional Trial Court judge here has filed perjury charges against a colleague who had accused him in the Court of Appeals (CA) of playing pusoy (a card game) while on official duty.


RTC Branch 7 Judge Clarence Villanueva lodged the case against RTC Branch 6 Judge Ruben Ayson who executed an affidavit last May 13 that the former played pusoy between 10 a.m. and noon of Sept. 27 last year.


Ayson’s affidavit was sent to CA Justice Josefina Salonga for investigation.

                    [Summary] => BAGUIO CITY — Three of four city judges accused by a colleague of ethical and court improprieties have decided to keep mum about the mess following the order of Supreme Court Chief Justice Hilario Davide Jr. for an investigation.


Davide has asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into the allegations of Judge Ruben Ayson against Executive Judge Antonio Reyes and colleagues Amado Caguioa, Clarence Villanueva and Edilberto Claravall.


Ayson exposed the "can of worms" in an executive order dated Jan. 24.
