Bulldogs seek 6th win in row vs SSC Stags

MANILA, Philippines - National University faces a big test against San Sebastian today as the Bulldogs aim to keep their unbeaten run in the 2012 Filoil Flying V Pre-season Hanes Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Bulldogs have hurdled their first five opponents to lead Group B, and they would want to add the Stags, who debuted in the tourney with a 65-79 loss to Jose Rizal, to their list of victims.

“It’s going to be an interesting game. We know they are one of the top teams in the country,” said NU coach Eric Altamirano after his crew led by Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. and Emmanuel Mbe crushed St. Benilde, 74-55, for win No. 5 last Saturday.

But the Stags, the reigning PCCL champions, were far from their top form when they played the Bombers following a month-long training in the US.

NCAA MVP Calvin Abueva and Ian Sangalang are again expected to take charge for an SSC side deadset to get back on track.

Meanwhile, Arellano (1-1) shoots for its second win in Group B against winless CSB Blazers (0-2) at 1:45 p.m. while Group A teams University of the Philippines (0-3) and Perpetual Help (0-3) collide at 3:30 p.m.

The summer cagefest is presented by Bostik Phils. Inc., in cooperation with Total Phils. Corp. and major sponsors Vulcaseal,  Kia Motors, Meralco, Nature’s Spring, TMS Ship Agencies, BDO, Bayo, Molten and Oxycan.
