Vice, may ibang misyon sa Japan!

Mas malaki na siguro ang chance ni vice ganda na mahanap ang naiwang pamilya ng Japanese woman na nagpaaral sa kanya mula elementary hanggang college.

Kahapon ay nabanggit ni Vice ang tungkol dito, sa opening ng Philippine-Japan Film Festival na nagkaroon ng opening ceremony sa K Cinema, Shinjuku, Tokyo, kahapon.

Bukod sa mga Pinoy na dumating upang panoorin ang pelikula ni Vice na Call Me Mother kung saan din dumalo si Direk Jun Lana, nabanggit ulit nito ang matagal na niyang paghahanap sa Japanese woman na naging dahilan kung ba’t siya nakapag-aral:

“For your information, I was sent to school by a Japanese woman that I never met. From grade school to college,” banggit niya.

“I was very fortunate to be given an educational scholarship by a Japanese woman named Noriko Tokura. A woman that I never met.

“And even if I never met her, even if I wasn’t given the chance to meet her, I consider her a great mother. Because she sent me to school and I felt her love.

“Though we were miles away, I never met her,” pagkukuwento ni Vice sa mga dumalong mga Pilipino at mga Hapon.

“But every week, we used to send each other letters. We exchanged letters every week. That is why I still remember her address to this day.”

Pagpapatuloy niya, “When I was able to enter show business, I tried to look for her. Because I really wanted to meet her, to thank her personally for the good deed. For sending me to school. But she’s no longer in the same address.

“And finding it very difficult to search for her because when I asked for help, they were looking for kanji. Kanji, the writing,” sabi ni Vice.

Ilang beses na niya itong nabanggit pero mas may chance talaga this time na magkaroon ng lead ang kanyang paghahanap dahil maraming hapon na dumalo na maaaring makatulong sa kanya.

At nabanggit niya kung ba’t siya nahihirapang maghanap.

“Because there are so many people with the same name. So for me to be able to find her, I would have to present a kanji. But I lost all the letters that she sent me because I came from a very poor family.

“And every year, our community experienced fire. So, I lost the letters that she sent me. So I wasn’t able to provide the kanji that they were asking for. So, that’s why it is very meaningful for me also to be able to portray this role of a mother. In order to give tribute to all the wonderful people who I consider my mother. And Noriko Tokura is just one of the greatest mothers that I ever had,” bahagi pa ng speech ni Vice bago ipinalabas ang Call Me Mother kahapon.
