Eugene binuking ni Jolina
Remember Slumbooks na minsan din nating kinabaliwan back in our teenage years? Or scented love notes neatly folded? And what do they have in common? It’s the last part in the dedication that says I.T.A.L.Y., or I Trust And Love You.
Marahil, ito ang pinagkunan ng inspirasyon ng GMA Films in coming up with a romantic comedy adventure. Unlike the past movies whose titles are foreign places (like Merika, Postcards From China, Dubai), the film I.T.A.L.Y. does not only transport us to the otherwise known as the ‘boot country,’ but it also takes us to four other nations, three continents and 12 key cities around the world.
Hindi rin ito isang travelogue that chronicles romantic accounts of its principal characters Jolina Magdangal, Dennis Trillo, Rufa Mae Quinto, Mark Herras, Rhian Ramos, Edgar Allan Guzman and Eugene Domingo. I.T.A.L.Y. is much more than that.
But behind the movie lies a deeper discovery ng mga katuwanan ng cast while working abroad. Sa maagang presscon na ginanap aboard the 7107 Islands Cruise docked at Pier 6 in
“Nasa isang bar kami, sabi ko, ‘P-Chi, gusto ko naman ng red wine. Maya-maya, may red wine na kami. Tapos gusto ko naman ng mansanas, ‘Day, heto may mansanas na,” kuwento ni Uge.
May ibinuking din si Jolina tungkol kay Uge, probably the oldest in the group. Sey ni Jolens, “Pahiran ko raw siya ng mansanilya. Di ba, para sa pananakit ng katawan ‘yon? Basta, ang dami-dami niyang baong pamahid.”
Dennis also had his share of quaint secrets. Pambubuko uli ni Uge, “Dyusko, buong akala ko kay Dennis, eh, sobrang pormal. One time, nag-disco kami, ganito ba naman siya kung magsayaw?” habang minumuwestra ni Uge ang patalon-talong dance step ni Dennis. “Sabi ko, ‘Hoy, Dennis, wala ka na bang ibang alam na step? Talon ka nang talon, tutal naman, eh, mag-aalas kuwatro na ng umaga, idiretso mo na lang kaya sa jogging ‘yan.”
Kitang-kita sa cast how they got strongly bonded abroad, bagama’t they collectively felt for our homesick, OFWs na nagtitiis magtrabaho alang-alang sa kinabukasan ng kanilang mga pamilya.
At the presscon, however, Uge offered another reassuming country-inspired acronym: J.A.P.A.N. which to her means Just Always Pray At Night.
