Daboy di na kailangang operahan

IT was only last Saturday, October 27, when a messenger from the Ralonzo and Partners law office — who’s representing both Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby — had finally served its demand letter to Lolit Solis, copies of which had already seen print in several tabloids even before the respondent’s receipt.

Maliwanag na dalawa ang kundisyong hinihingi ng mga kliyente niyang aktor para hindi na umakyat ang usapin sa korte — retraction o pagbawi ni ’Nay Lolit ng kanyang umano’y malisyosong isinulat na nakita niya sina Piolo at Sam sa poolside coffee shop ng Sotifel Hotel with the insinuation that they were gay men, at public apology.

Binigyan ng naturang law firm si ’Nay Lolit to satisfy these two conditions ten (10) days from receipt of the letter, which means she has until November 6 to act in compliance. Pero hindi na nga ito hinintay ni ’Nay Lolit, mismong sa Startalk nitong Sabado she issued a statement of apology to both Piolo and Sam if she may have hurt their feelings one way or another, not realizing na magiging major issue pala ’yon, worse, would be tainted with malice.

But ’Nay Lolit to this day stands her ground — she’s got about to retract what she wrote that indeed, nakita niya ang dalawa.

As I was doing the voice-over of the letter, medyo alarming lang ’yung nakasaad doon na pinag-aaralan din daw ng mga abogado nina Piolo at Sam ang mga subsequent articles na nalathala that followed ’Nay Lolit’s item here in Pilipino Star NGAYON. Which means that there is likelihood na hindi lang si ’Nay Lolit ang hihilingan nilang mag-retract o mag-apolize  publicly lest the other writers face a libel case waiting to be filed.

I will reiterate my position that I am not a legal mind, pero prerogative nina Piolo at Sam to take whatever action they deem most appropriate if they felt they were maliciously maligned, as their lawyers so claim.

Sana nga lang, efforts made by both Piolo and Sam are not aimed to push their luck too far, thus spreading themselves too thin.

Before she  and her family flew to Guam, masayang ibinalita sa akin ni Lorna Tolentino that chances are, hindi na raw sumailalim ang kanyang mister na si Rudy Fernandez sa surgery as earlier recommended by his doctors.

Being the latest breakthrough in arresting cancer, my tinatawag na raw palang Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy which is directly aimed at the node or tumor. Iminuwestra sa amin ni Ms. LT ang magiging procedure nito, kunwari raw ay isang butones ang growth, mala-laser lang daw ang gagawing pagpatay roon without killing the good cells.

Bagama’t sasailalim pa rin daw si Kuya Rudy sa chemotherapy, IMRT is believed to be a lot better substitute for surgery.

For a month now, pahinga muna si Kuya Rudy sa kanyang once-a-week chemo (every Wednesday). ‘‘Maganda-ganda na ang aura ng lolo mo,’’ sey ni Lorna,’’ Nawala na ’yung mga sugat-sugat niya sa kamay at sa paa. Bumalik na rin ’yung dating kulay niya. Kaya nagdarasal kami na makuha na sa IMRT (to be done at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center), bale two years pa lang na nandu’n ’yung machine sa hospital, and so far, ’yung mga previous patients have shown remarkable progress.’’

No wonder, in the early evening of former President Joseph Estrada’s release last Friday, nasa Polk St., San Juan si Kuya Rudy. But where was LT? ‘‘Hay, naku, nag-taping ako for Zaido until 5:30 a.m., nakauwi ako ng 6 a.m. at ang tagal ko pa bago nakatulog. Kaya heto, antok-antok pa ako,’’ sey ni Lorna who proved to still be a dynamo of energy while hosting Startalk.
