One killed in Bais City dawn fire

BAIS CITY, Philippines — A 40-year-old man was found charred to death after his house, including two others, were gutted by fire at around 1 a.m. Tuesday along Mabini and Gomez Streets at Barangay 2 in Bais City.

Inspector Alfonso Enriquez, Bais City Police chief, identified the fatality as Ben Enok, owner of the house where the fire started, and quickly spread to two of the neighbor’s houses. A third house was partially burned.

Enriquez said that, after receiving the fire alarm, the Bais City Fire Station was alerted and then responded to the scene. Firefighting authorities declared a fire out at around 1:50 a.m. or almost an hour after it broke out.
