Truck runs over, kills mother and her baby
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A 35-year-old woman and her 6-month-old baby was killed after they were ran over by a ten-wheeler truck at the Burgos-Circumferential Road in this city, Friday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as Maria Fe Arrosa and her daughter, baby Jilian, of Relocation Site in Barangay Vista Alegre, this city.
The mother, who was carrying her baby, was about to cross the street when the truck, driven by Rudy Palanog, 36, of Alimodian, IloIlo, hit them.
Police investigation indicated that the truck was waiting for the traffic lights to turn "green" when the victims, who were crossing the street stopped in the middle of the road because of another incoming vehicle, but the truck hit them as they tried to cross again.
Palanog, who was detained in a police station detention cell, said he did not see the victims crossed the street. "It was not my intention to hit them," he said, adding that it was his first accident in 18 years of being a truck driver. (FREEMAN)
