Differently-abled persons conduct mangrove planting

- Edison S. Vilbar - The Philippine Star

HILONGOS, LEYTE,Philippines — The Association of Differently Abled Persons (ADAP) in this town, headed by its president Marta Villafañe, entered into a MOA with the DENR and the Energy Development Corporation for the conduct of mangrove reforestation with the help of Mayor Jose Emery Roble.

ADAP, consisting of 25 active members, was determined to protect the town’s shorelines as a way of providing livelihood projects and promoting tourism.

The group then formed the Cantandog II Natural Watershed Yard (CANAWAY), along with parents of grade schoolchildren and other stakeholders, to implement the mangrove planting project at Brgy. Cantandog II, six kilometers from the town proper.

Villafañe told The Freeman that disability is not a hindrance in rendering services to the community, one of which is the protection of the environment. (FREEMAN)
