MANILA, Philippines — Kinalsuhan ng University of the Philippines ang kanilang dalawang sunod na kamalasan matapos lu­sutan ang University of the East, 78-75, sa Season 82 UAAP men’s basketball tournament kahapon sa MOA Arena Sa Pasay City.

Kumana si import Bright Akhuetie ng 18 points at 14 rebounds at uma­gapay si Jun Manzo na may 17 markers, 3 rebounds at 5 assists para sa 6-3 kartada ng Fighting Ma­roons.

Nagdagdag naman ng 14 points si Kobe Paras ka­sunod ang tig-10 mar­kers nina Javi Gomez De Liaño at Ricci Rivero, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

“Finally, we were able to bounce back. We’re not going to celebrate this obviously, we have UST on Wednesday.” sabi ni assistant coach Ricky Dandan.

Nasayang naman ang 28 points, 20 rebounds at 3 blocks ni Alex Diakhite para sa Red Warriors na bu­maba sa 3-7 marka.

Pinutol ng three-point shot ni Paras at floater ni Javi Gomez De Liaño ang ratsada ng UE sa final canto upang maibalik ang kalamangan ng UP sa 74-67 sa huling 1:51 minuto ng fourth quarter matapos isuko ang 17-point lead sa third quarter.

Ang split nina Manzo at Javi Gomez De Liaño sa huling walong segundo ng laban ang sumelyo sa pa­nalo ng Fighting Maroons.

Sa unang laro, nagta­la ng 10 points sa fourth quarter si AP Manlapaz pa­ra igiya ang Adamson Soaring Falcons sa 72-53 paggupo sa National Univertsity Bulldogs.

Winakasan ng Falcons ang kanilang four-game lo­sing skid para sa 4-6 ba­raha.

“Well it’s been awhile. We needed this win,” sabi ni Adamson coach Franz Pu­maren.
