Gilas Pilipinas sinibak ng Sagesse sa Dubai Cup

MANILA, Philippines - Tuluyan nang nasibak ang Gilas Pilipinas sa 24th Dubai International basketball tournament matapos ma­kalasap ng 65-95 kabiguan sa Sagesse ng Lebanon kahapon sa Al Ahli gym.

Ito ang pangatlong sunod na kamalasan ng Nationals matapos manalo sa kanilang unang laro laban sa Mouttahed Triplo ng Lebanon, 79-77.

Humingi naman ng dispensa si head coach Chot Re­yes sa pamamagitan ng kanyang Twitter account.

“Sensya na mga kabayan. Di talaga kaya,” sabi ni Reyes sa kanyang Twitter account na @coachot.

Tinapos ng Gilas-Pilipinas ang kanilang kampanya mula sa 1-3 record.

“Warm up tourney with a lot of young guys. Didn’t really have high expectations for this tourney,” wika naman ni dating Gilas assistant coach Charles Tiu sa kanyang tweeter account na @charlestiu.

Si Tiu, ngayon ay assistant sa Barako Bull, ay bahagi ng Gilas Pilipinas squad ni Serbian mentor Rajko Toroman na pumangatlo sa Dubai tournament noong 2010.

Pinangunaha ni Niño ‘KG’ Cañaleta ang Nationals mula sa kanyang 32 big points, kasama dito ang 24 mar­kers buhat sa three-point range.

Binanderahan naman ang Sagesse team nina imports DeShawn Sims, Aaron Harper at Chudney Gray maliban pa kina national teams players Ibrahim Ahmad, Elie Stephan at 7-foot Lebanese-Australian Julian Khazzouh.
