Ancajas-Rodriguez fight kasado na!

MANILA, Philippines — Ipagtatanggol ni reig­ning International Boxing Federation (IBF) super flyweight world champion Jerwin Ancajas ang kanyang titulo laban kay Mexican challenger Jonathan Rodriguez sa Abril.

Ito ang inihayag ni Top Rank Promotions chief Bob Arum kung saan pinag-aaralan pa ng kanyang grupo kung saan gaganapin ang laban.

Si Rodriguez ang parehong boksingerong makakalaban sana ni Ancajas noong Nobyembre 2 sa Carson, California.

Subalit hindi ito natuloy dahil sa problema sa visa ni Rodriguez.

“Yes (it’s Rodriguez). I did not make the match, one of my people made it. Once we finalized everything, we will announce it. I think that fight will most likely by April 11,” ani Arum.

Tiniyak naman ni Arum na wala nang magiging a­berya sa pagkakataong ito.

Kailangan aniya maplantsa ang lahat ng dokumento bago pa man ang laban partikular na ang visa na naging pangunahing dahilan para makansela ang laban nito kay Ancajas noong Nobyembre.

“We are still finalizing the site. But you know sometime next week or so, everything will come together. We’ve been announcing two fights for every month but at least two or three fights, so we will have that final advise sometime next week,” ani Arum.

Naging kapalit ni Rodriguez si Chilean Miguel Gonzalez kung saan itinarak ni Ancajas ang impresibong sixth-round knockout win noong Disyembre 7 sa Puebla, Mexico.

Marami pang plano si Arum kay Ancajas.

Matapos si Rodriguez, target ni Arum na isabak si Ancajas kina World Boxing Council super flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada ng Mexico, World Boxing Association super flyweight titleholder Khalid Yafai ng Great Britain at World Boxing Organization champion Kazuto Ioka ng Japan para sa isang unification bout.
