CA ni-reject si Mariano bilang DAR chief
MANILA, Philippines — Ikinalungkot ng Malacañang ang naging desisyon ng Commission on Appointments (CA) nang ibasura ang ad interim appointment ni Agrarian Reform Sec. Rafael Mariano.
Ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella na si Mariano ay isa sa inirekomenda ng National Democratic Front (NDF) kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte upang maging miyembro ng Gabinete bilang kinatawan mula sa maka-kaliwang grupo.
“Improving the quality of life of our farmers is the commitment of the Duterte administration, and Sec. Mariano has been pivotal in promoting farmers’ rights and welfare and ensuring their security of land tenure. Our people will always be grateful to Sec. Mariano for his dedicated and passionate service to the nation,” wika pa ni Abella.
Kapareho ng kapalaran ang sinapit ni Mariano at dating DSWD Secretary Judy Taguiwalo na kapwa mga leftist sa kamay ng CA.
Bukod kina Mariano at Taguiwalo ay una na ring ni-reject para maging DFA secretary si Perfecto Yasay Jr. at Gina Lopez sa DENR.
