MANILA, Philippines – Binuo ng Letran at UP Volleyball Club ang quarterfinal cast ng Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Challenge Cup women’s division.
Ito ay matapos talunin ng Lady Knights ang University of Batangas, 25-23, 25-19, 25-23, at gibain ng UP Volleyball Club ang Parañaque City, 25-18, 25-10, 26-28, 25-17, sa final elimination-round playdate kahapon sa Rizal Memorial Coliseum sa Manila.
Winalis ng Letran ang Pool C sa kanilang 3-0 record habang itinala ng UP Volleyball Club ang 2-1 marka para sa second place sa Pool A patungo sa knockout quarterfinals ng torneong suportado ni Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richard Bachmann kasama ang PLDT, Rebisco, Akari, Foton at CBPI.
Nauna nang biniktima ng Lady Knights ni dating Ateneo coach Oliver Almadro ang Rizal Technological University-Basilan, 25-22, 25-11, 22-25, 25-13, at ang Arellano, 25-21, 25-10, 25-20.
May 3-0 kartada rin ang NCAA champion College of St. Benilde sa Pool A kagaya ng Philippine Air Force (3-0) sa Pool B at ng University of the Philippines (3-0) sa Pool D.
Segunda ang Jose Rizal (2-1) sa Pool B, ang Arellano (2-1) sa Pool C at ang San Beda (2-1) sa Pool D ng 16-team women’s division ng Challenge Cup na pinamumunuan ni PNVF president Ramon “Tats” Suzara.
