MANILA, Philippines — Thousands President Rodrigo Duterte's supporters on Sunday called for the resignation of Vice President Leni Robredo at a rally tagged as "Palit Bise."

"Some people want to impeach Leni, some people want her to resign, and some people want her to change," said crooner Jimmy Bondoc, whom Duterte appointed Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. assistant vice president for entertainment on the sidelines of the event on Sunday at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.

Bondoc, one of the organizers of the event, accused Robredo of shaming the country in an international forum by reporting "unfounded facts" in the video she sent to the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs. Attendees said she should instead help the president in reforms he seeks.

In the video message to the UN body, Robredo criticized the Duterte administration's cornerstone campaign against illegal drugs as having claimed the lives of thousands of suspects without trial. — Video by Agence France Presse
