"Project Noel" heightens awareness on environmental realities

-

MANILA, Philippines - “Project Noel,” a film aimed to teach the value of resource management and to instill one’s responsibility towards Mother Earth, is making the rounds in various Banco de Oro (BDO) offices nationwide and has so far been shown in five different venues to environmental experts, officers and staff of BDO, their families, friends and clients of the bank.

?The film is a collaborative effort of the BDO Greening Program Core Team and BDO Foundation, Inc. in coordination with   Miss   Earth   Foundation. SM Cinema hosts the film and has so far done so in SM City in Naga, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, Pampanga and BDO Corporate Center.??

Environmentalists Cecil Yumul, spokesperson of Save the Trees Coalition; Engr. Noel Hechanova of Iloilo City Environment and Natural  Resources;  Oscar  Orozco of the Naga City Environment and Natural Resources;  Rio  Saruang of DENR Region 10 and Catherine Untalan, Executive Director  of  Miss  Earth  Foundation  were invited to speak before the start of the film showing.

The speakers discussed climate change, its causes, effects  and  mitigating factors aside from the “greenhouse gas effect” and the  impact of global warming. They also provided practical solutions that each can do at home and in the office to reduce carbon emission.??

This  is one of the initiatives of the BDO Core Green Team  and  BDO  Foundation,  Inc.  to  promote  continuous  education  and awareness  on environmental realities and sustainability among officers, staff and clients of BDO.
