Sionil Jose, Miguel de Leon/ Eddie Yap updates the Proms

The Philippine Star

National Artist for Literature F. Sionil Jose recently turned over his immeasurably significant writings to the De la Salle University Library. Jose is the most widely translated, read and most awarded Filipino novelist.  His incomparably diverse subjects cover culture, the arts, history, philosophy, literature, political science, government and economics.

Novelist Miguel Lopez de Leon of Manila’s elite is the son of Jose Vicente and Marybeth de Leon (nee Lopez) and the nephew of DJ Lopez.  Miguel’s grandmother is the English Wendy Barnes.

Founder of Galadria Worldwide, Miguel is the author of the trilogy Galadria. The incredibly prolific young fictionist has also written “The Unicorn,” “Carry the Knight” and its sequel “Dawn of the Knight” — all fantasy novels. (Miguel’s short story “A Working Professional” won the first place in the Writer’s Digest Magazine contest besting over 550 other competitors.

Miguel’s flights of fancy are charmingly imaginative, intriguing and exciting.  Herewith is a description of Galadria’s first book: “Peter Huddleston, a lovely boy, discovers he is the heir to the throne of the amazing golden realm of Galadria. Armed with his trusty boomerang, an assortment of magical trinkets, and his friendly white tiger, Rune, Peter charges into dangerous and magical adventures.  Filled with watermelon sized ladybugs, ancient oracles, enchanted weapons, water dwelling monsters, a 3,000 room manor and a troop of lovable, konky characters, Galadria is an action packed series the readers will cherish.”

The trilogy and the other books may be had through [email protected] or at www.miguellopezdeleon.com.

A real estate developer by profession, Eddie Yap is a classic music lover and authority, and an occasional concert organizer by avocation.  Eddie and his wife regularly travel to Europe, the US and Asia to attend concerts by the world’s best performers.

Eddie brings back the latest official guide to the BBC Proms July 18 to September 13, 2014.  Founded in 1895 by conductor Henry Wood, the Proms mixes great classics with rare works and premieres at the Royal Albert Hall.

Asia performers include orchestras of China, Singapore and Seoul, a Korean cellist-conductor, a Shanghai pianist and a Chinese sheng player.  When will Filipino musical artists perform at the Proms?
