Chinese envoy in Beijing on Phl Independence Day

The Philippine Star

I’m writing to bring to your attention your paper’s report “Noy calls for unity amid threats to Phl” on June 13. It said that Ambassador Ma was conspicuously absent and our CDA left even before the program started at the Palace,” which does not accord with the fact. Actually Ambassador Ma Keqing left for Beijing at the end of May, to report her work and attend the 19th China-Philippines Foreign Ministry Consultations. It is our Charge d’Affaires Political Counsellor Sun Xiangyang who attended the event at the Liwasang Bonifacio, where he heard the speeches of President Aquino and the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, and spoke with Senator Franklin M. Drilon and some cabinet secretaries. I hope your paper can make a clarification on the report. — ZHANG HUA, Spokesman of the Chinese Embassy
