21 police chiefs relieved after failing tests

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Twenty-one police station chiefs in Quezon, Cavite and Rizal provinces were relieved from their posts after failing the enhanced managing police operations or EMPO course, the Philippine National Police said.
The PNP-Calabarzon said the officers on administrative relief would be replaced by their deputies, as they wait to retake the exam.
Brig. Gen. Hansel Marantan, Calabarzon police director, said 11 of the police chiefs come from Quezon province, two from Cavite and one from Rizal.
“The police chiefs who failed the test will be given a second and third chance to retake the exam. If they fail three times, they will be facing permanent replacement from their posts,” Marantan said.
All chiefs of police in Calabarzon were ordered to take the EMPO to determine their familiarity with police operations.
Marantan said the PNP Directorate for Operations at Camp Crame ordered that the EMPO be taken by the officers.
Meanwhile, Marantan said more chiefs of police would be affected by the reshuffle being implemented in the region, citing poor performance and the failure to stop illegal gambling in their jurisdictions, among the reasons.
He noted that seven chiefs of police in Laguna, Cavite and Rizal PNP stations were earlier relieved from their posts due to poor performance, career advancement, overstaying and lack of initiative and dedication for police work.
