Rizal landslide leaves woman dead, 2 children injured

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A woman died while two of her children were injured in a landslide in Barangay Mascap in Rodriquez, Rizal on Sunday.

Police said housewife Florisel Mahinay, 37, died while emergency responders were rushing her to Ynares Hospital, where her children, aged two and 12 years, are being treated for injuries.

Her 18-year-old daughter, Hazel, told investigators that she heard her mother shouting in alarm prior to the incident.

“Listen, there’s something rumbling. Quick, get out,” Hazel quoted her mother as saying.

Hazel said she saw a large rock rolling down toward their house.

The rock hit her mother and two brothers.
