Holidays declared in 2 areas

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has declared special non-working holidays in Pulilan, Bulacan and Butuan, Agusan del Norte for the celebration of local festivals.
Proclamation 1213 declared May 14 a special non-working day in Pulilan for the celebration of the Kneeling Carabao Festival in honor of San Isidro Labrador, patron saint of farmers.
Meanwhile, Proclamation 1214 declared May 19 a special non-working day in Butuan for the celebration of the Balangay Festival.
Butuan’s annual festival celebrates the declaration of the excavated balangay boats as National Cultural Treasures in 1987.
The boats were used by early settlers in the country, according to the Department of Tourism.
The declaration of special non-working days will allow residents to fully participate and enjoy the celebrations, the proclamations stated.
