MMDA suspends delivery, pass-through fees in NCR

Unified truck ban enforced; fuel tankers
MANILA, Philippines — The government suspended the collection of pass-through and delivery fees for vehicles transporting goods in the National Capital Region, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said yesterday.
MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said the measure aims to stabilize product prices and reduce additional supply chain costs amid the energy emergency.
Artes said the policy was agreed upon during a meeting with local government traffic heads, police and the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
“The pass-through fees involving the delivery of goods in Metro Manila will be suspended,” Artes said, aligning with President Marcos’ directive to issue a policy regarding the swift and efficient mobility of commodities.
Meanwhile, a unified truck ban will be enforced in Metro Manila from 6 to 9 a.m. and from 4 to 8 p.m.
The MMDA exempted fuel tankers and cargo trucks from the ban, allowing them to hold deliveries around the clock.
Artes said the MMDA could not lift the truck ban in full as some road conditions in the metropolis cannot accommodate large delivery trucks during regular hours.
“There will be no truck ban for those who will deliver essential and perishable goods, as well as oil tankers,” Artes said.
